What is a Silent Retreat?
A directed silent retreat helps you intentionally unplug and detox from your busy routine. During this extended time away from daily distractions you are invited to the sacred place of solitude and silence to encounter the presence of the Holy One.

Silence is the language of God, said Mother Teresa, so the solitude and silence provided at this retreat center is a wonderful starting place for you to encounter God and focus on your personal relationship with Him through prayer, meditation and reflection. Rest, healthy food, and walks also create a backdrop which often draws us towards God. These personal spiritual practices along with meeting daily with your spiritual director, create opportunities for you to “hear” God’s voice and deepen your communion with the Holy One.

A desire for deeper intimacy with God is the only qualification a person needs to participate in a directed retreat; that, along with the yearning to spend time alone with God in silence and solitude and a willingness to share your prayer experience with the director. If you do not have a regular prayer routine, that’s OK, perhaps this directed retreat will assist you in developing a formal routine of prayer.

Through this experience, my prayer is that you will recognize and understand that the true Director in spiritual direction is the Holy Spirit. You will also discover that a directed silent retreat is a very distinctly different retreat model as compared to other styles of retreats offered.
