Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is a process of accompanying people on their spiritual journey and helping them grow closer to God. It is a three-way relationship between the directee, spiritual director, and the Holy Spirit.

The human spiritual director sits on behalf of the directee listening for God’s invitation for a deeper relationship.

Spiritual direction offers a safe, non-judgmental place for the directee to share his and her life experiences, which is “God’s daily curriculum.” Through prayer and reflection on “God’s daily curriculum” a deeper personal awareness emerges. As this new awareness is articulated and shared, a spiritual director can assist the directee to notice even more about his or her deepening relationship with God.

Ultimately spiritual direction helps individuals learn how to live in peace and bring about the restoration of creation through compassion, promoting justice, and as humble servants.

Individual Spiritual Direction

Individual Spiritual Direction involves Dr. Lori Tate holding space for you to pray and reflect while guiding you on your relationship with God

Group Spiritual Direction

Group direction is an ongoing community process in which individuals gather together on a regular basis to assist each other in their growing personal awareness of God. They are seeking support and encouragement for their growing desire for God and they agree to support others on that similar journey. Group direction allows for individual sharing by each participant followed by periods of silence for prayer and discernment.

Groups are limited to a small number of members with a spiritual director. To build community and honor individuals’ spiritual journey, once a group is established, it becomes “closed” for a set period of time.
